S/MIME encrypted Emails are not decrypted/opened by Outlook

Hello everybody,

We habe Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3 (Build 8741) in use mainly for encrypting Emails to communicate with customers. We also have the requirement to communicate with other customers via S/MIME, so these two encryption methods have to work side-by-side.

We have mainly Windows 7 Enterprise as operating systems in place with Office 2013 Professional (=> Outlook 2013) installed.

I rolled out X509 user certificates for Email encryption over our PKI for all users and configured the Outlook clients for several users to use S/MIME. S/MIME works fine on clients without Sysmantec Encryption Desktop. Users who also use Symantec Encryption Desktop are not able to read encrypted email via S/MIME.

I configured the "passthroughInboundSMIME" setting in the PGPprefs.xml file to let Outlook handle S/MIME mails, so far only signed mails seem to open, encrypted S/MIME mails are not displayed (The mail is displayed, but the message itself does not open).

What can I do to make this work?

I need a solution

We have created a Red Hat KVM Hypervisor that we are creating Windows Servers in. We have deployed two SEPMs with embedded databases but at random intervals they either hang or crash.

We currently have an internal investigation going on and are also engaging with Microsoft but in the mean time I wanted to understand if there are any known issues or potential problems with this type of configuration?

I need a solution

I am using SEP 12 MP8, and I am using the java version 8 version 131 downloaded from the SEP manager.

When I Export a Package I get the following error

My export settings are

I have tried running as local administrator, network share, does anyone know what the solution is?

I am running it is a Java applet, path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_131\bin\javaws.exe -localfile etc.

Hola buenos días.

Tenemos el siguiente problema. La semana pasada estábamos en una lista negra de dominios y no podíamos enviar correos. Rellenamos el formulario de baja en cuestión y actualmente no aparecemos en ninguna lista negra.

Nos han llamado de 3 empresas diferentes, indicando que no reciben nuestros correos. Investigando, hemos comprobado que los 3 dominios, utilizan los servidores messagelabs, por lo que rogamos por favor, si pueden revisar las listas de bloqueos para quitarnos y solventar el problema. Hemos comprobado en el siguiente foro https://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/blacklist-removal-messagelabscom-connection-rejected-policy#comment-11761311 que podemos estar en una lista negra histórica.

Hemos comprobado nuestros registros MX, SPF, DKIM y todo está correcto, es más, a otros dominios los cuales no utilizan los servidores messagelabs no tenemos ningún problema en el intercambio de correos.

Nuestros dominios son:

imf.com                                   

imf-formacion.om                    

Los dominios afectados son:

aramark.es         cluster1.us.messagelabs.com

caixabank.com cluster4.eu.messagelabs.com

ferrovial.com    cluster3.eu.messagelabs.com

Connection rejected by policy [7.7]

I have an email system on IP: 188.165.166.129

My users and I have been getting some mails returning with: "501 Connection rejected by policy [7.7]"

The server is not black listed, implements DKIM, and on http://ipremoval.sms.symantec.com/lookup/ it reports:

"The IP address you submitted, 188.165.166.129, does not have a negative reputation and therefore cannot be submitted for investigation."

Could you please check why this address is getting blocked?

Computer doesent encrypt

Hello.

So we have 2012 Server with Symantec Endpoint Encrytion manager.

Everything works well on all computers. BUT...!

Now we bought a new computer. HP Zbook 15u G3.

I have installed the computer as usual. Joind domain and then installed SEE Management Agent Client x64.

Then reboot.

After reboot i install SEE Drive Encryption client x64.

The reboot.

This always works and computer starts encrypting.

But now when the computer starts up it popups that the device has been Decrypted succesfully.

I try send encrypt command from manager but nothing happends.

On the computer i have logg errors:

Failed to register client administrator ´encryption.admin´ Error -11980

I have tryed to reinstall computer and change computer name. 

Anyone have any idea??

Unable to add SEP 14 MP2 Package to SEPM (Win x64)

Hi,

We have Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (v14 build 1904) installed on Windows Server 2008 R2.

I am trying to add the install package for V14 MP2 onto the sytem to test with a few Windows 10 systems.

However I am getting the error below:

- Reading the package contents...
- Adding the package into the management server...
- Disabling cancel operation as updating server database...

How do I fix this?

In our environment we get many requests to block the sender address.is there any way we can create the DL which will be sync with AD and I can give access to user to add and remove sender address from the DL. Rather than having them reach out to us on a daily basis. If yes how can we achieve this.

SEPM 14 Add a Computer feature removed. Please put it back

In SEPM 14 (MP1 and MP2) the feature Add a Computer has been removed.

Previously when you right click on a container under Clients. The drop down menu provided an option to Add a Computer.

That feature has been completly removed from SEPM 14.

We were using this feature on a daily basic.

Please put it back.

Outlook and Windows thinks that Symnatec is not valid

I need a solution

Hi everyone,

I have a weird problem that happened a few days ago. It seems that suddenly Windows stopped to recognize Symantec as a valid antivirus. That creates some weird events in Outlook in particular. We use Endpoint protection and it is working fine. All the PC I've checked are up to date.

I was wondering how to make Symnatec "accepted" by Windows again.

Hello everyone,

We actually use a virtual server to manage our Endpoint Symnatec solution.

- Windows server 2008 SP1 64bits
- Endpoint Symantec 12.1.6 (12.1 RU6 MP4)
- SQL express 2005

We want to upgrade Endpoint to the version 14.

During my preparation, I found that our SQL databse is too old and is not supported by the last version of Symantec.

1- The SQL express 2005

For the version 14, Symantec requires an SQL database of at least 2008Sp4.

I was wondering if Symantec uses only SQL as a reference or if we could go to another solution to manage the data.

If it is SQL only, do you know if Symantec offers some kind of support to do that kind of upgrade? My knowledge in SQL is minimal and after hours of research and realized that it seems much harder to do than expected.

I need a solution

Migrating systems from an old SEP server to a new one.  I'm having issues with some of the Windows 10 systems.

Background is migrating from an older 12.1 server  on 2008R2 to a new 12.1.6 RU8 on Server 2012R2.  I have a new install package assigned to the group to update the clinets to 12.1.6 RU8, and most of the clients upgrade smoothly after updating their sylink.

Where I'm having issues is with some of the Windows 10 systems, under the restart required column, they are showing "Yes, The Application and device control component has a driver configuration change to apply".  Restarting the computer never clears this mesaage.  I have removed and re-installed with no success on these systems.

I'm gathering more information this evening regarding exact Windows 10 version that are working and that are not working, I can't interupt users during the day at this client.

Any information would be appreciated!

Per the Symantec DLP 14.5 Admin Guide:

Network Protect gives organizations the following capabilities:

■ Apply visual tags to content in Box cloud storage. Network Protect can apply a text tag to files that violate policies that are store in Box cloud storage.

■ Quarantine exposed files. Network Protect can automatically move those files that violate policies to a quarantine area that re-creates the source file structure for easy location. Optionally, Symantec Data Loss Prevention can place a marker text file in the original location of the offending file. The marker file can explain why and where the original file was quarantined.

■ Copy exposed or suspicious files. Network Protect can automatically copy those files that violate policies to a quarantine area. The quarantine area can re-create the source file structure for easy location, and leave the original file in place.

■ Quarantine file restoration. Network Protect can easily restore quarantined files to their original or a new location.

■ Enforce access control and encryption policies. Network Protect proactively ensures workforce compliance with existing access control and encryption policies.

My question is - what is the best way to restore quarantined files to their original location? I'm surprised there isn't a smart response rule that can be manually executed from the Enforce Console to restore the file. How have you guys approached this? Moving files manually does not seem like it would be efficient.

Managing ProxySG static bypass list?

I have recently implemented Management Center (v1.9.1.1)  to manage many ProxySGs (most at v6.5.10.1)

Several of the proxies have a static bypass list defined.

I'm not finding where to manage those static bypass lists in the Management Center; checked in VPM, Local CPL, Central CPL... no luck.

Any advice?

I need a solution

I have seen a number of threads in this forum discussing this error. One of our users is now seeing this error before the OS starts.  The error comes up right after the Pre-Windows environment begins to load.  If you choose the option to restart the computer, it simply returns to the same place.  I would like to know what the root cause of the error is.  I saw where it was once stated that if a user attempts to do a defragmentation on the encrypted drive, this can happen.  In our case, that is not what happened since our users do not have sufficient permissions to run defrag.  At this point, our field services people are saying their only option is to reimage the machine.  I would just like to know what actually causes this error so we can educate our users as to how to prevent it in the future.  Thank you.

I have a user who is trying to enroll their Mac to our Cloud console and install Symantec Endpoint. When going through the first portion, it is trying to add a profile to their machine, and they keep receiving an error. The message is The profile "Enrollment Profile" could not be installed due to an unexpected error. Internal error 1.  Does any one have solution for this?
