Remote SEPM console not loading reporing features

Can't get the reporting features to load on either the Web Console or on the Java Console.  Works fine on the server.  Ran through a number of technotes (ie version, trusted sites, Java exceptions, adding a registry key) but it keeps coming back failed to connect to server.  It's definitely timing out somewhere however I'm just not seeing it.  Not seeing it blocked by NTP on server or client.  Wondering if it is something configured in SEPM though the Java client works fine when accessed on the SEPM server itself.  (version 12.1.4)
